Blogger's Quilt Festival 2016 Entry: Rowan's Chasing Chevrons

Hello!  So after a many years absence playing with these 2 characters,
I've had quite the summer of quilting, and I'm so excited to share the details of a lot of finishes with you in the coming weeks!

But none of these quilts makes me prouder than this quilt that I made for my nephew!

I finished the piecing many years ago, but my nephew specifically requested this wood grain quilting design, and when he requested it, I wasn't capable of quilting it well, so it got set to the side.

Fast forward to this summer, when I started renting time on a Handi Quilter Avanti machine at Spring Water Designs in Columbia, Maryland.

I first quilted several charity quilts to practice how to work the machine, and then I quilted this quilt, and I have to say that I just love the way it turned out.  The overall wood grain design with a few areas where I featured pebbles and ribbon candy just makes me happy.  I'd like to give a big thanks to Angela Walters for her wonderful books and the workshops she gave to the DC Modern Quilt Guild and the Needlechasers Quilt Guild.  And thanks to Amy Ellis and Blogger's Quilt Festival for letting me share my work with a larger audience.

Quilt stats:
76" X 84"
Kona cotton solid with a mix of batiks for the chevrons
Batik back
8+ hours of quilting time on the long-arm (quilted in 2 sections on 2 different days and then pieced together).

Piecing design from Jennifer Jenkinson of That Girl, That Quilt's "Chasing Chevrons" quilt-along

I'm still here!

Hi!  I can't believe my last blog post was when Miles was born!  Except I can, because he is now 3, and he keeps me very busy!  But, I've finally been quilting a lot lately, and I'll have lots to share in the coming weeks as I have finish after finish!
